Phosphating is a chemical and electrochemical reaction whose main purpose is to provide protection to the base metal against corrosion. The phosphate conversion film (phosphate film) formed during the phosphate treatment process serves a variety of purposes:

  1. ImproveSide Ties: phosphate treatment can form a layer of phosphate film on the metal surface, the film is porous, can make the paint film better penetrate into the small pores of the metal surface, so as to form a more solid adhesion.
  2. Enhance corrosion resistance: phosphate film can effectively block the penetration of water, oxygen and other corrosive substances, thereby slowing down the corrosion rate of the metal.
  3. Improvepainting quality: Phosphating treatment can remove impurities and oxidized layer on the metal surface, making the metal surface become more flat and smooth, thus improving the painting quality.
  4. Friction reduction and lubrication: in the metal cold working process, phosphating film can play the role of friction reduction and lubrication.

Application of phosphating treatment

Phosphating treatment is widely used in various fields, mainly including:

  • Iron and steel surface treatment: phosphating treatment is mainly used for steel surface treatment to prevent steel corrosion.
  • Non-ferrous metal treatment: phosphating treatment can also be applied to aluminum, zinc and other non-ferrous metal parts.
  • Automobile industry: phosphating treatment before auto body painting can improve the adhesion of paint film and metal surface, enhance corrosion resistance, improve the quality of painting, and save energy and resources.
